Congratulations on joining the movement to reduce single-use plastic, your conscious choices are making a bigger difference in our environment than you might realise!
Now that you have your alternative straw, you might be wondering how to best take care of it?
Stainless steel straws are easy to clean and dishwasher safe!
If you have used your straw in a café or restaurant, discretely blow out any last drops into a serviette/napkin and wipe it down before slipping it back into your BYOS-bag. Once you’re home, or at the end of each day simply pop your straw in the dishwasher and you’re good to go for the next day!
If you don’t have a dishwasher, rinse your straw as best you can under hot water, then wet your pipe cleaner and rub a drop of soap onto the bristles until evenly spread. Push the pipe cleaner back and forth through the straw until you feel it is clean. If you have a bent straw, it might be necessary to push it through both ends. Once you feel the inside is properly scraped, rinse the straw under water and dry thoroughly.
DRYING. This is perhaps the most important care tip for our straws. Always make sure they are completely dry before putting them away. Although our straws are made from high-quality food graded stainless steel, they are still a metal after all and if not looked after, run the risk of rust.
To ensure the lifespan of your straw is as long as possible, dry well after every use.
Our BYOS drawstring-bags are designed with your straw in mind, the lightweight material keeping it air-y and easy to wash if need be.
